Beta v0.5.1 Released


Second-realm bosses now spawn early as a preview! Don't worry about beating them without the proper run time to build your deck, they're just here as a more interesting cutoff point than the Construction Sign.

Enemies can now also occasionally spawn with additional special behaviours that remix their role in battle.

In addition, I've made a bunch of balance and quality of life changes. This will be a continuous process leading up to release.

Bug Fixes

- Fixed Butterfly's Clear the Board using the old lunge wording.
- Fixed Cricket's Dash showing "walk 0" on the card preview screen.
- The tooltip for Copy now appears when examining items such as Shard of Insight.
- Fixed character select screen being blank if you simultaneously fast-forward and skip through the intro text.
- Fixed being able to use boss soul items on enemies.

Story

- Added bond level 2 conversation for each pair.

Gameplay

- Push and Pull cards are no longer restricted to diagonals. (Lunge and Retreat cards still are, for now.)
- There are now a variety of special behaviours that enemies can randomly spawn with at later depths.
  - Hardened: Gains 5 Block every turn.
  - Tempered: Gains 10 Block every turn.
  - Regenerating: Gains 1 Rally every turn.
  - Precise: Gains 1 Critical every turn.
  - Empowered: Gains Focus up to 3 stacks every turn.
  - Unyielding: Gains Focus up to 5 stacks every turn.
  - Charging: Gains 2 Focus every turn.
  - Relentless: Gains 3 Focus every turn.
  - Smooth: Gains Parry up to 1 stack every turn.
  - Jacketed: Gains Buffer up to 1 stack every turn.
  - Agile: Gains 1 Dodge every turn.
  - Reinforced: Gains Sturdy up to 8 stacks every turn.
  - Entrenched: Gains Stable up to 2 stacks every turn.
- Enemies' special behaviours are now displayed consistently with the reaction tooltips.
- Special behaviour tooltips now show their icon as well.
- Tweaked enemy difficulty across the board.
- Enemies that spawn from splitting now have their max HP capped to what it was when they split.

Quality of Life

- The pause menu's "Restart Run", "Abandon Run", "Main Menu" and "Exit Game" now require two clicks to confirm.
- Run-ending buttons now notify that resuming runs midway through is not yet implemented.
- Game-exiting buttons now notify of when you last saved your game.
- You can now open the elemental cycle menu from the character select screen by right-clicking the path icons.
- Added a clickable pause menu button above the Exit button on the character select screen.
- Reactions and special behaviours now specify how many stacks of a status they apply.
- The controls tutorial no longer restarts if you complete a battle before completing all the checkboxes.
- Simplified some tooltips that detail many statuses.
- Percentages on tooltips are now worded as proportions for consistency.

Enemies

- Pushed back the Construction Sign a little.
- Added second-realm bosses. These appear earlier than normal for now.
  - Fire: Added Wildfire Exemplar.
  - Water: Added Glass Leviathan.
  - Wood: Added Invective Scholar.
  - Metal: Added Horde Foundry.
  - Earth: Added Gravestone Quarry.

Cards

- Cricket's Dash now walks for 3 rather than scaling with his move speed.
- Cricket's Sawblade now has a cooldown of 2.
- Seagull's Fulmination now applies 5 Fragile rather than 2.
- Nerfed starting Actions to balance draft picks.
  - Butterfly's Spear now deals 12 damage rather than 16.
  - Seagull's Barrier Band now grants 7 Block but has a cooldown of 2.
  - Cricket's Hammer now deals 6 damage rather than 8, and his Chisel now has a cooldown of 1.
  - Crow's Staff now deals 11 damage instead of 15.
- Buffed many Neutral cards.
  - Shove/Grapple/Withdraw/Advance now deal 10 damage instead of 5.
  - Projectile now deals 12 damage instead of 9.
  - Strike now deals 15 damage instead of 13.
  - Scatter now deals 10 damage instead of 7.
  - Pierce now deals 10 damage instead of 7.
  - Haste now grants 2 Initiative instead of 1, and draws 2 instead of 1.
  - Suspension/Tunneling now cost 0 instead of 1.
- Banes that have a negative retain effect now clarify that you can play them to avoid it.
