Alpha v0.4.6 Released


Everyone has at least one conversation now! 
These play the first time you start a run with each pair. While writing these, I realized that the more dialogue there was, the more I had to actually explain the world rather than just leaving it up to vibes. It'll be an interesting transition to manage.

In addition, there are now 100 (non-character-specific) Memories in the game!
I'll be taking a break from semi-regular updates to work on 0.5, where I'll implement progression and saving/loading.

Bug Fixes

- Main menu buttons no longer play mouseover sounds when they're not active.
- Fixed card fan appearing underneath dialogue if you selected a unit fast enough.
- Fixed minor typo during tutorial sequence.
- Fixed boss soul items dropping when restarting a run.
- Fixed strange behaviour when a battle ended with enemies being destroyed on their turn.

Story

- Added initial dialogue for each combination of adventurers. This plays on your first run with each pair.
- Added new post-tutorial dialogue and made a few edits to in-tutorial dialogue.
- The Sage in the tutorial now has a different text blip sound.
- Cutscene text above and below cards are now slightly further from the card.
- Conversations playing before battle no longer have the "activity in progress" frame showing.

Visuals

- Added various new VFX for card plays.

Audio

- Replaced sound for when cards are generated by other cards.

Quality of Life

- You can now click to fast-forward/skip intro poems, or the title screen animation.
- "Adjacent" is now worded as "Surrounding" to remove ambiguity.
- Character names over portraits take longer to fade after selecting a unit.
- Already-seen cutscenes and conversations can now be skipped with the "back" key (default ESC).
- Made it clear that selecting a Mighty, Magical and Path are required to start a run.

Cards

- Basic movement cards can now only be upgraded once, rather than twice.
- Hawk's Swoop now has massive range.
- Crow's Detonation now deals the next 4 turns of Fray damage rather than all of it, and properly accounts for future turns of Exposed.
- Crow's Rive now deals 9 Fray instead of 12, and loses 6 potency instead of 4.

Items

- Added Stone Dust, which gives a common Action from the Unusual deck at the cost of 5 HP.
- Added Stone Shards, which gives a rare Action from the Unusual deck at the cost of 10 HP.
- Added Stone Slab, which gives a golden Action from the Unusual deck at the cost of 15 HP.
- Added Lake Dust, which gives a common Gambit from the Unusual deck at the cost of 5 HP.
- Added Lake Shards, which gives a rare Gambit from the Unusual deck at the cost of 10 HP.
- Added Lake Slab, which gives a golden Gambit from the Unusual deck at the cost of 15 HP.

Memories

- Added Mechanical Calculator, which has a 1 in 2 chance to grant 1 AP and/or 1 GP on battle start.
- Added Training Sword, which heals 2 HP if you lost HP during the enemy turn.
- Added Broadcast, which has a 1 in 3 chance to copy 1 stack of debuff applications to all enemies.
- Added Motivating Word, which has a 1 in 3 chance to copy 1 stack of ally buffs to the other party member.
- Added Sudden Shock, which grants a 1 in 8 chance to apply Stunned when attacking.
- Added Soul Bond, which transforms into your ally's rightmost memory on pickup.
- Added Stealthy Approach, which causes every enemy to start the battle with 1 Distracted.
- Added Distillation, which increases your movement speed at the cost of 1 item slot.
- Added Hardening, which grants 1 Parry if you lost HP during the enemy turn.
- Added Spite, which grants 2 Focus on turn start for each unique debuff you have.
