Alpha v0.4.3 Released


Finally, story! It's just the first "cutscene" for now, but this should at least establish the premise. 

It was fun coming up with this tarot card + couplet style of cutscene. It's the only one I can imagine making a substantial amount of, because it would take me forever to animate or draw full-page spreads for everything. Hopefully the lines being poetry rather than prose encourages the player to take their time with it.

Bug Fixes

- Prevented character selection switching when menu was open.
- Fixed occasional terrain effect not drawing properly.
- Fixed Energy terrain looking weird on bridge tiles.
- Fixed occasional bridge drawing in mid-air.
- Fixed knockback preview incorrectly showing wall impacts when moving allies.
- Fixed loading progress bar not appearing.
- Fixed tutorial notifications persisting when returning to main menu.

Story

- Added story intro cutscene with WIP artwork.
  For now, resetting tutorials will make this play again.

- Added new card-handling sounds.

Gameplay

- Purge events now skew towards lower-rarity cards.
- Upgrade events now skew towards higher-rarity cards.

Quality of Life

- The Codex is now accessible from the main menu.
- The Card Wobble setting now also affects units on the board.

Cards

- Butterfly: Added Arcane Tether, a Gambit that lets you lunge to any unit or pillar.
  - Aggression now starts at 2 potency and scales 2 at a time, rather than 1 (both you and your target gain more Exposed).
  - Deflect no longer gains charges on upgrade.
- Seagull: Added Infinity Mirror, a Gambit that discards cards to inflict Vulnerable, Exposed, and Fear.
  - Foresight now has 3 charges rather than 2.
  - Scrutinize now draws 1 rather than 2.
- Cricket: Added Grasping Wind, a Gambit which pulls any unit closer.
- Crow: Added Rekindle, a Gambit which draws cards from the Exhaust pile.

Memories

- Intensity's starting potency is now 1 (lose 1 max HP per battle, gain 1 Critical/Form per turn).
- Added Trail Boots, which grant 3 Block upon moving to a tile with a terrain effect.
- Added Starch Slime, which grants 1 Form if you lost HP during the enemy turn.
- Added Absorption Tonic, which converts DoTs to Poison on turn start and removes 1 stack of Poison when playing a block card.
- Added Purifying Flame, which converts DoTs to Burn on turn start and removes 1 stack of Burn when playing a movement card.
- Added Written Deduction, which increases your draw count at the cost of starting each battle with Distracted.
- Added Gentle Gaze, which causes every enemy to start the battle with 1 Dulled.
- Added Nostalgic Song, which causes every unit start battle with 1 Rally.
- Added Timely Aid, which reduces DoTs by 1 on turn start.
- Added Certainty, which increases your AP at the cost of reducing your number of rerolls.
- Added Contemplation, which increases your GP at the cost of reducing your movement speed.
