Alpha v0.2.5 Released


Finally starting to add more enemies and bosses to the game. Units can now have unique reactions, such as memorizing player cards it witnesses -- the newly added Wood path boss uses this as its key mechanic, as it will remember cards that you play within its line of sight, and use them against you on its turn.

I've also tweaked how a few statuses work: for example, Exposed (take more damage) now halves instead of completely disappearing, and Weakened (deal less damage) also halves instead of decrementing by one. This encourages battle to push towards a resolution.

Bug Fixes

- Fixed issue with the very first battle in an area not giving the expected reward.
- Fixed issue where upgrading the Magical's cards resulted in a lower probability of their cards being offered when drafting.
- Upgrades performed with shop items are now counted in end-of-run stats.
- Fixed potentially misleading display of star gain/loss when buying and using star-gain items quickly.
- Fixed run getting stuck if the player is somehow defeated between battles.

Visuals

- Added preview for knockback.
- Added an indicator for when line of sight will be blocked upon moving to a new position.
- Added particle for reloading cards.

Audio

- Added sound for knockback impacts.

Quality of Life

- End-of-run stats now include number of cards purged.
- Item bar no longer moves offscreen immediately after you get an item.

Gameplay

- Exposed now halves each turn rather than resetting.
- Weakened now halves each turn rather than decreasing by one.
- Blinded now decreases at end of turn naturally.
- The path choice menu now tells you what the next boss is.
- Added path choice for gaining items.

Cards

- Butterfly:
  - Most cards that add Pressure, Balance and Momentum return to shuffling them randomly into the deck.
  - Pressure, Balance and Momentum have been buffed to account for the above.
  - Aggression now inflicts Exposed instead of Vulnerable, and costs zero.

- Seagull starts with one more Bolt and one less Blast.

- Cricket: Perseverance now has Exhaust.

- Crow:
  - Ruin now costs 1 rather than 2.
  - Detonation now costs 2 rather than 3.

Enemies

- Enemies can now have unique reactions to your cards.

- Added several biome-specific bosses.
  - Water: Added Spider Kraken.
  - Wood: Added Paper Hydra.
  - Metal: Added Titan Walker.

- Added more "act 2" enemies.
  - Water: Added Mirrorscale.
  - Wood: Added Litany.
  - Metal: Added Gardener.
