Alpha v0.2.0 Released

The second column of the game (items) is implemented! I'm hoping to make these do strange and interesting things, like consumables that modify your cards, or consumables with both positive and negative effects that you can play on any unit.

Alongside items, I've added a "currency" that you can use to reroll rewards and craft items, to give greater control over a run. The balancing of this is still a work in progress, so expect tweaks in the future.

In addition, the art for the Path of Wood is now in. I'm aiming to replace the placeholder tileset for one biome per major update.

One other minor-but-major change is that enemies can now be part of knockback chains at 0 HP. That just felt more fun overall.

Changelog

v0.1.6 -> v0.2.0

Bug Fixes

- Enemies will no longer set ally-targeting cards as their goal if they're the last one remaining (thus doing nothing).

Gameplay

- Consumable items have been introduced as loot from battles and events. Play them on the world, on a character, or even on a card.
- You now gain Stars from battles and from skipping rewards. At certain events, you can spend Stars to craft new cards and items. These can also be used to reroll rewards.
- Enemies will no longer be generated unreasonably far away from the player's starting position.
- Enemies can now be part of knockback chains at 0 HP.

Visuals

- Replaced placeholder art for the Path of Wood (Infinite Library).
- Menus now transition in and out rather than appearing and disappearing instantly.
- Made the little spikes on the corners of Rare cards more noticeable.
- Replaced art for Block.
- Made hitsparks a bit more noticeable.
- Adjusted fonts.

Quality of Life

- Cards that steal, scale, or boost Block are now previewed on mouseover.
- Added settings for menu motion, card wobble, and UI scaling.
- Pausing during intro poems will now leave the poem visible.
- Logs for the previous battle are now cleared out when starting a new one.

Enemies

- Encounters are slightly easier at the very start of a run, and just after defeating a boss.
- Cacophonies now always pick a card that hits your current position, if it can.

Cards

- Butterfly:
  - Permafrost now only converts up to 5 of each status, but applies 2 Block per stack.

  - Patience now gives Grit rather than Block directly.

- Seagull:
  - Indomitability, Instability and Invulnerability now become Innate on upgrade instead of increasing in potency.
